In the debut poetry book Jūra (Das Meer), published bilingually in Lithuanian and German, moments captured in the present blend with memories, dreams, and illusions. The author sensitively explores themes of identity, fear, reality, and relationships, inviting the reader to gaze into themselves through the varying shades and intensities of “The Sea.”

“Flashes of everyday life, like sunlight glittering in the spray of sea waves, then disappearing—into a longing for meaning, a longing for a loved one, a longing for peaceful existence. We are invited to witness and accompany these flashes—where snow was meticulously and slowly cleared, where flower buds are already beginning to burst.” (Writer and playwright Virginija Rimkaitė)

The text’s author, Arnis Aleinikovas, is a Lithuanian interdisciplinary artist actively working in contemporary theatre, performance, electronic music, and writing.

The illustrator, Jules Sacco, is a French interdisciplinary artist who, in collaboration with other artists, experiments within the frameworks of stage and visual art.
