There are 60 civil registry offices in Lithuania. It is a place for a couple officially to get married. In soviet times it was only place where a couple could get their marriage certificate. Those artificially constructed spaces suddenly had to become legalizing institutions and at the same time places of “celebration of life”. A church was completely replaced here. New custom was placed into the society together with new constructed spaces full of artificial sanctity.
